I posted this before and received no responses so I'll try again.
My doctor has indicated that she would like for me to switch to once a week
Fosamax. I take 5 ml. a day. Have any of you had bad side effects with once a
week that you have not had with daily?

Nowadays most people take fosamax weekly. I made impressive gains combined
with other activities (diet and exercise).

No bad effect, except it hurts to pee that night. ( you wanted the truth).

I sure do. I tend to get kidney stones -- only a couple of times, but I am
careful. That would really bother me had you not said something.

I take 10mg daily with no side effects. Doc said weekly tends to be
prescribed for seniors more-likely to forget the daily dose. My personal
feeling is a daily dose is easier on the system and potentially
more-effective.

Trevor.

Mine aren't any worse than they were before starting Fosamax. And
it's easier to drink over half a gallon of water once a week than once
a day, if one is worried. I try to do half a gallon every day, so
it's just a bit more on Fosamax day. Not that there's anything else I
can eat or drink for 1/2 hour to 2 hours after taking the med. So I
really suck down the water more out of boredom than any idea of
necessity.

It's all theory. The theory goes that calcium makes calcium kidney
stones. Turns out that my urologist says that it's the oxalic acid
that does it. Improper thinking took the large amount of calcium in
some stones (there are other kinds of stones than calcium stones) and
ran with it, apparently thinking that the oxalic acid was unimportant,
when it's actually the precipitating ingredient.

I'm only a tad bitter about having restricted my calcium intake for
several years after I had my first large stone. It only denied my
bones and organs of the benefits of calcium. Stuff happens.
