Welcome Dot,
I just joined this group so I am no expert on Osteoporsis but I have worked
in a hospital for 20 years as a tech. I also suffer from depression and OCD
so I understand some of your issues.

I am 42, perimenopausal and just got diagnosed with some mild osteopenia in
my femoral neck.

I have never exercised so I just joined Curves two months ago and I really
like it. You can see if one is near you by clicking this link

The Pilates Video sounds like a good start but I'm not totally familiar with
it. I do know that we are supposed to do weight-bearing exercises (i.e
Walking, running, dancing, climbing stairs, or using weights).

I have trouble sticking with programs I buy to use at home. In fact, I have
a $600 treadmill that I never use anymore except to hang clothes on. To
answer one of your questons, most exercise programs recommend a minimum of 3
days a week for 20 minutes.

Today, I also ordered 'The Bone Density Program' by George Kessler. Someone
here recommended it. You can get it online from amazon.com. I hope this link
works http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0345432843/102-0878340-2804909

if not, try this

Good luck,

I have a little OCD too - and the depression is particularly bad in the
winter because it rains all winter where I live. Every year I say I'm
going to get a light box.

I have never exercised either - was so skinny I didn't think I needed it
until lately. My daughter is going to join Curves, so I will look into
that too. We have one up the street.

Okay, writing this down...

Thanks, NK : )

Mine is always worse in the winter, too. Several years ago, I actually went
and bought a light box from the SunBox company
https://www.sunbox.com/

It was expensive as hell (over $500.00). It does help a little bit, but it
did not totally erase my depression.

I am impatient and hate sitting in front of it for the 20 minutes. I used to
keep it on my dining room table and sit in front of it while I ate dinner so
I could kill two birds with one stone but it reset my body clock and I got
insomnia from it.

Best to use it when you get up....

Check the link if you are interested, though.
