I take a supplement in the evening, when I know how much I'll need after
considering my food-for-the-day. But if it's clear earlier on that I'm going
to need more, then I'll take something at lunchtime. During the times that I
have to be off all dairy to prep for certain medical tests, I'll start at
breakfast. I try to get a total of 1500mg/day.

Viactiv (or store brand generics which are a tad cheaper) chocolate chews
make a nice, very small, dessert!

My doctor also highly recommended these. I tried them but they left a
metallic taste in my mouth afterwards.
My calcium goal has been between 1000 and 1500 mg a day. Is this enough?

I'm 5'6", 140 lbs and a 42 year old perimenopausal woman who has osteopenia.
I'm afraid of taking too much calcium and getting kidney stones.
