Carmen,
Skim milk is better for the bones than whole milk. It seems that the fat in
the whole milk reduce the absorption of calcium by the bones.

Hi Francoise,
I don't drink whole milk. I haven't tried skim milk, but I've been
drinking fat free milk for the past week. It seems to be agreeing to my
body because whole milk get me constipated.
If you have any information about this I would love to hear it.
I have to take calcium supplements and I don't know which to buy because
of my constipation problem. Would you know if there is a brand that
won't get me constipated?
Thank you,
Carmen

Carmen,
I thought skim milk was fat free milk. I live in Canada and here we have:
whole milk: 3.75% of fat (I think)
2% milk
1% milk
Skim milk: 0% of fat.
Françoise.

Checking the USDA site (http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/cgi-bin/nut_search.pl?milk),
we get:
whole milk: 3.25% fat
reduced fat milk: 2%
lowfat milk: 1%
nonfat / fat free / skim milk: 0%

Hi Francoise,
I'm not sure, but I thought that fat free is slim milk, but my husband
is telling me they are not the same. I'm going to check it out when I go
to the grocery store.
