I work full time. I'm in fair health, considering the combo of
breathing and bone and thyroid (some connection in those) diagnosises
I've had. There's no way the government would give me disability,
especially if they saw me this summer doing my version of a quick
climb (anyone normal's version of a slow one) out of a river tailwater
this summer when the dam sirens blew. Or caught me going upstream in
a kayak.

Last doctor visit I was seeing him about something that bit me and
caused a problem from that climb out. At the end of it he dropped
from doctor to normal and said, "But how do you manage to do all
that?" This is a man who knows my condition / s. My answer was,
"Slowly. Very slowly. But stubbornly." I like flyfishing. I like
kayaking. If I have to do it very slowly, I'll damn well still do it.
When I can't do it on rivers, I'll do it on lakes. When I can't do
lakes, I'll do ponds. When I can't do that, I'll read books all the
time instead of some of the time. I've gone from my own canoe on the
car top to kayak in the back of the truck to inflatable in the truck
or car as my ability and desire to handle weight have become less over
the last 15 or 20 years. I suppose I may have to go back to having a
paddling partner eventually. Or at least a shuttle driver. However,
not this year or, most likely, next year.
